INTRODUCTION

Motoparks Motocross Academy is an Educational and Motocross training program designed for motocross riders, allowing them to achieve high levels of training and riding.

Motopark will accommodate riders goals and timeline throughout the year. You can undergo Motocross Training at two levels in addition to their educational curriculum. Our "Train to Race" group is meant for beginner level riders. Our "Race to Win" group will undergo an intensive program designed to take them to the highest level, teaching them how to "Ride, Train, Eat and Think to Win".


Riders taking part in the Academy receive:

1. Motocross Lessons, Training/Instruction and Practice at Motopark and other facilities
2. Riders can take part in racing events in both the Canada and the U.S. Riders are accompanied to all events by Motopark Staff. Race programs can be adjusted for each riders goals and objectives.
3. A special Motocross Diet-Riders learn to "Eat to Win"
4. Accommodation at Motopark and when traveling
5. Fitness Training specifically geared to Motocross
6. Schooling as required including special Correspondence courses
7. Weekly recreational outings to "unwind"
8. Journals-- kept to record a riders progress to the top in their class

This popular 5 day summer camps return with 10 dates for 2008. Close to 300students from across Canada and many U.S. States as well as a number of other countries take part in our summer camp program. Students follow a posted daily schedule that includes their meals, lessons on how to ride properly, Practice riding times with their instructors, maintenance of their motorcycles, physical training and an evening campfire and games.

The Kitchen Boss Marg Henkel is retiring this year after 32 years at Motopark but she has been training the rest of the kitchen staff to take over and they make great home made meals with lots of the right foods to give students the energy to get through the day.

The trainers are always top notch, students rave about their knowledge and abilities. Last years team of instructors included Canadian Pro's Iain Hayden and Zeb Dennis, U.S. Pro Clint Shealy and long time Motocross riders and instructors Nick Hill and Matt Lee. In charge of after hours activities and night custodian was Jay Moto and his team of assistants Johnathon Rachmel and Amanda Schoenfield.

Former MX school students include riders who have excelled in the Sport in Canada-- Ryan Gauld, Michael Island, Chuck Mesley, Todd Townend, Chris Pomeroy, Kyle Stephens, Doug Dehaan, Bill Wallin, Marty Burr and Dave Gowland among others.

Motopark Motocross Lessons Include, Basic and Advanced Training with 18 lessons to choose from. Everything from learning the clutch to high speed and technical corners.

Beginner lessons can be as short as 1 hour if we are just teaching a beginner rider how to get going. Generally, we can provide 3 to 5 lessons in our minimum 3 hour session.

Lessons are given based on the riders experience as well as their goals and objectives. Lessons are broken into Basic and Advanced Training

Basic Training:
1. Review of controls, starting the bike, starting to ride
2. Riding position and braking
3. Basic Cornering
4. Putting it all together- Riding into a corner- braking- coming out
5. Riding Uphill and Downhill
6. Practice routines
7. Basic Maintenance

Advanced Training:
1. Berms
2. Starts
3. Passing
4. Surfaces-hard pack, mud, sand, ruts, loam
5. Lines
6. High Speed and Technical corners
7. Wheeling obstacles
8. Whoops
9. Jumping concepts
10. Interval Training
11. Maintenance
12. Physical/Diet "Train & Eat to Win"
13. Psychological "As I Think, I Am"
