Guidare Pilotare

INTRODUCTION

GuidarePilotare was established in 1982 by Siegfried Stohr, former Formula One driver and psychologist and is the first school in Italy devoted to "safe driving". Over the years, it has helped more than 130 000 people with their driving skills in specialized driving courses, road and track product tests and road safety training.

GuidarePilotare is earmarked as the official school for the BMW Group Italy and Yamaha Italy.
Our courses not only teach the proper "techniques", but also those essential ones in order to face emergency situations. When we drive, we tend to do so with emotions clouding our judgement, and this can lead to fatal mistakes being made. This is where we step in. We will teach you how to "drive" your emotions.

For this reason, we have developed the most advanced systems of recording. Through an exclusive system of video recording, the VideoTelemetria®, we can analyze every moment of the performance behind the wheel, view every maneuver in slow motion, see the execution of each exercise and each bend again and again. Together with the pictures from the two cameras, information is also registered by a computer that monitors the driving, accurately measures every movement and record it on each participants’ personal SD-Card.

Established in 1982 by Siegfried Stohr, former Formula One driver and psychologist.
• First driving school in Italy with over 130.000 participants to it’s activities.
• GuidarePilotare is the official school of BMW Group Italy and Yamaha Italy.
• Recorded benefits for the clients: reduction of 31,6% in car accident in the first year after the attendance of our course for the
private client* ; 5% of improvement in consumption after a truck course.
• GuidarePilotare is certified ISO 9001:2000 since 2000

ADVANCED SAFETY DRIVING (1 DAY PROGRAM)

Price: USD 2300

This course teaches total control of the vehicle in any emergency situation and under all kinds of
critical grip condition. It reproduces, on the racetrack in conditions of utmost safety, unexpected
dangers, sudden brakes, obstacles, wet bends, puddles and slippery road surfaces. It also
reproduces all kinds of road bends, making it possible to assess speed in approaching a bend and the intensity of braking. Furthermore, it teaches participants the safest trajectory to take on tight
bends and wide motorway bends.

• BRAKING.
This exercise is carried out on a wet roadbed with low-grip coefficient. Participants have to avoid obstacles, even when the front wheels blocked. The exercise is then repeated with the ABS on, in order to optimize the stopping distance when avoiding obstacles.

• MEASURING THE STOPPING DISTANCE
Consists of braking on a straight stretch of track with the ABS on and measuring the stopping distance.

• SKID CAR
The skid car makes it possible to achieve sudden loss of grip, even at fairly low speeds.

• UNDER STEERING ON A BEND
This exercise is held on the 80-metre steering pad, on a slippery surface. It develops the sensibility on adherence lost on front axle and teaches the correct technique to recover safe trajectory.

• OVER STEERING ON A BEND
On a tight bend with a slippery and wet surface, a strong oversteer iscaused with the antiskidding system off. It is necessary to control the resulting skid by countersteering. At the end, the exercise is repeated, this time with the antiskidding DSC (ESP) system on.

• POWER OVER STEERING
As the previous exercise, but with an over 260 hp car. To improve sensibility in power usage.

• OBSTACLES AVOIDANCE
Consists in avoiding an unexpected obstacle, or in other words a wall of water activated by the instructor. This is achieved by steering sharply and then controlling the vehicle during the subsequent realignment.

• DRIVING DIAGNOSIS
Driving diagnosis for an initial check of each participant's approach. 2 laps.

• SLALOM
Shows the correct hand’s on wheel position & allows the familiarization with car’s behavior during mass transfers in direction changes.

• INSTRUCTOR'S LAP
A demonstration lap shows participants the correct and incorrect techniques to adopt.

• TRACK
A set of 4 laps using rear-wheel drive cars, to learn to deal with power and to work on the correct assessment of speed and relevant braking distances. Driving techniques for approaching a bend are tested and work begins on the correct trajectory and driving techniques to use in bends.

• TRACK
Last set of 5 laps with final assessment of the work carried out and a summary of driving.

• THEORY
Interactive and multimedia, at all the work stations too.

SPORTS DRIVING (1.5 DAY PROGRAM)
CLICK TO SHOW/HIDE

Price: USD 4380

This course teaches total control of the car in all situations of limit driving, even at very high speeds. It is therefore, particularly suitable for sports car drivers and driving enthusiasts in general. Exercises are carried out at more than 120 km/h and track laps are driven at top speeds in order to develop a professional awareness of driving. This course is a completion of the "Safe Driving" course and indeed, the first day's program is the same.

Day 1

"Safe driving" programme: Antiskidding, braking, measuring the stopping distance, avoiding an obstacle, wet hairpin bend, track section, 3 sets of laps of the track and a demonstration lap for a total of 13 laps on 4.180 racetrack.

Day 2

• Braking on a bend. Emergency braking whilst negotiating a bend at 120 km/h and subsequent avoidance of an obstacle. Even with the ABS on, it is necessary to modulate the braking action in order to avoid dangerous loss of grip on the rear axle.

• Wet hairpin bend. Control of the power over steering of 265 horsepower without the help of drive control systems. This exercise develops awareness and speed of reflexes.

• Chicane. The best techniques for dealing with all double turns. By accelerating before the load transfer, weight is shifted to the rear axle thus improving the stability of the vehicle.

• Racetrack sector with “M” cars. The correct technique to deal double turnings: how to obtain stability in brutal direction changes, how to sacrifice bend insertion in favor of exit. Only “M car” are utilized.

• Aquaplaning. The passage over a pool of water on a bend affects the stability of the car and reproduces one of the biggest perils represented by rain.

• 1st set of laps on the track. 5 laps of the racetrack.

• Overtaking test. Two double turns simulate a difficult re-entry after overtaking at 120 km/h.

• 2nd set of laps on the track. 5 laps of the racetrack.

• High-speed slalom. A continuous alternation of turns at the critical speed of more than 100 km/h.

• 3rd set of laps on the track. 4 laps of the long circuit

• Reverse lap. To check learning of trajectory concepts.
