INTRODUCTION

Established in 1993, Auto Sport Academy  is a training centre that is unique in the world. Auto Sport Academy was created to promote drivers at the highest level, in line with its marketing approach and commitment to Renault in F1. Auto Sport academy aims to provide a complete ladder to motorsports and drivers training.

Auto Sport Academy offers a full Formula Academy Program.  Its Formula Academy Program is extensive and its purpose is to Identify, Train and Groom potential applicants to be professional drivers.  At Auto Sport Academy, they provide a high quality of instruction and state of the art equipment. The cars available are brand new single-seaters of the latest technology designed by Signatech. Its performances are very close to those of the single-seaters of superior categories.
It is made of a carbon fibre  body-shell with a 140cv Motor using a sequential gearbox . The cars are designed with the best aerodynamic engineers using the latest state of the art data acquisition equipment.

Auto Sport Academy has had over 15 years of experience in the training of drivers:
- From 1993 to 2001 under the name of “Filiere Elf”
- From 2001 to 2006 under the name of La Liliere FFSA
- And since 2007, under the name of Auto Sport Academy

With over 181 candidates trained and primed for the BP prepared at Auto Sport Academy since 2005, 50 drivers trained in 2008 alone and having represented 35 nationalities since 1993,
Auto Sport Academy is in a league of its own.

In order to give the best training to the new recruits of Auto Sport Academy, 8 official days of training for every driver is organized, with an effective training period of approximately 150 minutes per day. These lessons are supervised by professional instructors.

The drivers benefit from a progressive training that is adapted to the needs of every person: technique (trajectories, braking, heel and toe), decomposition corner by corner with direct debriefing or after each series, debriefing of data acquisition after a few sessions of driving.

Throughout all the days, the drivers will also learn the working methods that will enable them to prepare themselves to switch to a superior category with professional teams.

 


 
 
THEMED CONFERENCES

Throughout the season and apart from the monthly evaluations in English and the physical preparations that take place every 6 weeks, 3 grouped training periods of 3 days are organized at Auto Sport Academy. These conferences allow drivers to acquire a better knowledge of the world of motorsport and to understand what are the needs and qualities they must possess in order to progress to a very high level.

  • Insurance of the sportsman
  • Road Safety
  • Analysis of Data acquisition
  • Optimisation of Driving functioning/gearbox
  • Functioning of kinematics of suspension
  • Tyre characteristics
  • Aerodynamics
  • Dietetics of the driver
  • Doping prevention
  • Experience sharing of famous drivers


Physical preparation training

Drivers are submitted to physical evaluations that come to a program of physical preparation in cycles.

1st Cycle: Introduction in bodybuilding and in general muscular strengthening adapted to the morphology and age of the drivers.

2nd Cycle: Oriented physical preparation (Working on the muscle groups used in specific activities)

3rd Cycle: Individualised program according to the driver’s objectives in competition.


Training in foreign languages (French and English)

Evaluations in French for the non-French speakers and in English for the non-English speakers are part of this program. The aim of this training is to enable the drivers to hold a conversation (by the end of the season) with a race engineer in the setting up of a car. This is absolutely necessary early in the career of a driver.


 


 
 
MEDIA TRAINING

This allows the drivers to be at ease when facing the requests of the different media and to be able to communicate effectively.

  • Presentation, relational contact
  • Functioning of media and journalists (TV, radio, written press)
  • Verbal expression: how to present oneself clearly and precisely, from the personal and sportive point of view.
  • Diction work and expression to be persuasive
  • Measure the vocal image that we reflect to others
  • Get used to hearing our voice, to be able to converse and get to know one’s strong points and weaknesses
  • Get used to the microphone, the camera and correct the techniques
  • Interview techniques

COMPETING IN FORMULA EURO SERIES

The Formula Academy Euro series is composed of 12 to 14 races over seven meetings.
This allows the drivers to race in France and abroad on famous circuits (Le Mans, Pau, Spa, Brno, Dubai, Barcelona) during big international events such as GT FIA, World Series by Renault, WTCC, DTm etc.

During the meetings, the drivers participate in private trials sessions 30 minutes before starting the qualifying sessions. During these sessions, the drivers are filmed from the side of the track and video briefings are organized in order to propose different working supports for finer correction to obtain faster times. The individual briefings of data acquisition are also done in tandem.

 

 
 
SPORT STUDY PROGRAMS (TRAINING AND STUDYING AT THE SAME TIME)

Drivers who wish to integrate into the Sport Study Program of Auto Sport Academy have several advantages.

Physical preparation lessons supervised 4 times a week by professional sports teachers.
Admissions on the Pole Espoirs (Hope list) of the French Ministry of Youth and Sports with possible grants from local authorities.

Daily hour adjustments to the different schedules of the different school establishments (high school or college ) as well as a shuttle service at their disposal to fetch the drivers to Auto Sport Academy every evening for their physical preparation.
Conditions for entering the Sport Study Program are as follows:

  • Age requirement is 14-21 yrs old
  • Must be of French nationality
  • Must study in France
